As the World Cup 2023 approaches, cricket teams are gearing up for the grand event. Pakistan, a strong contender for the trophy, will be playing in conditions similar to their home in India. Yet, the team will be without the physical presence of their fans in large numbers. Despite this, Captain Babar Azam remains optimistic about receiving substantial support in India, with most of their matches already sold out.

Before departing for India for the World Cup, Babar Azam expressed his confidence in receiving immense support in the host nation. Despite being his first time in India, Babar is hopeful of experiencing the same level of enthusiasm from Indian cricket enthusiasts.

“I’ve seen that all of our matches have been sold out even when we’re playing with other countries, the stadium is packed. Whenever we go there we get the love from their fans. I’m going for the first time but those who’ve gone there before have said that you get good support there. But we will miss our fans,” stated Babar Azam during a press conference.

Addressing his own performance, particularly against India, Babar acknowledged his subpar show with the bat. He admitted to having a modest record against India in both ODIs and T20Is, with just one fifty-plus score in 11 innings across both formats. However, the skipper is thrilled about playing in the vibrant atmosphere of Ahmedabad’s colossal stadium.

“I’m very excited to play in Ahmedabad; it’s the biggest stadium and it will be jam-packed. I will try to give my best and try to perform well. I’m not too worried about my performance but try to do the best for my team. On the day, I will try to give my best, and the almighty Allah will give me the best result,” Babar Azam added.
