England wants to make Ricky Ponting the coach of the Test team

England wants Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting as their coach. Robert Key, the new managing director of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), has set a target of getting Ponting as the coach of the Test team. Former India and South Africa coach Gary Carsten and former Sri Lankan star Mahela Jayawardene are also on the ECB’s list of favorites.
Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene is in charge of coaching Mumbai Indians in IPL and Southern Brave in The Hundred. England has considered him as a potential white ball coach.

England lost the Test series on a tour of the West Indies after losing 4-0 to Australia in the Ashes. As a result, Chris Silverwood stepped down as head coach. Joe Root leaves Test captaincy. Ashley Giles resigned as managing director.
