The retired leg-spinner’s legal woes began in April 2021 when he was reportedly abducted by a group of armed individuals outside his residence in the upscale northern Sydney neighborhood. MacGill, who is 52 years old and a restaurateur, previously recounted the harrowing experience to the Australian radio network SEN, describing how he was “stripped me naked, beat me up, threatened me and then just dumped me.”

Abduction Tied to Drug Deal

After an extensive investigation into the kidnapping incident, law enforcement authorities have now alleged that MacGill’s abduction was somehow linked to his purported involvement in a drug transaction.

The police have officially charged MacGill with one count of knowingly participating in the supply of a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.
