Bangladesh Women Triumph Over Pakistan in Thrilling Super-Over Showdown

In an exhilarating contest on Tuesday, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team clinched victory against Pakistan after a super-over showdown during the second ODI in Mirpur. Here’s how the drama unfolded:

The three-match O✃DI series now stands at 1-1, s♏etting the stage for a decisive final clash at the same venue on November 10.

Nashra Sundhu was entrusted with the task of defending eight runs in the super over, and she nearly succeeded. However, a four off the final ball by Nigar Sultana shifted the tide in Bangladesh’s favour. In response, Pakistan managed only seven runs in the super over, thanks to a crucial four by Aliya Riaz.

During Pakistan’s chase of the 170-run target, they appeared to be in control, needing 17 runs off 18 balls with three wickets in hand by the end of the 47th over. However, Diana Baig and Umm-e-Hani’s dismissals left Pakistan with just one wicket in hand and three runs to win in the last over.

The visitors came agonizingly close, requiring just one run off one ball. Yet, when Nashra Sundhu attempted to complete a single and failed to reach the other side of the wick💮et, the match was pushed into a super over.

For Pakistan, Sadaf Shamas top-scored with 29 runs, while Bismah Maroof was the standout performer. Bangladesh’s Rabeya Khan emerged as the leading wicket-taker, claiming three wickets.

In their innings, Fargana Hoque and Nigar Sultana played pivotal roles, contributing valuable runs. Hoque scored🤪 40 runs, and Sultana notched up 54 runs. Only five Bangladeshi batters reached double-digit scores.

In the previous ODI, Pakistan had dominated, winning by five wicke꧑ts after dismissing the home side for just 81 runs.

As the series stands poised at 1-1, the final match promises to be a thrilling encoun🍎ter as both teams vie for supremacy.
