The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)🐟 have successfully reached an agreement regarding the venue for the highly anticipated World Cup match between the two nations. As reported by Dainik Jagran, Pakistan has no🌃w consented to playing against their arch-rivals at the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
Initially, Pakistan had expressed concerns about playing in Ahmedabad due to security reasons. However, through extensive discussions and negotiations between the BCCI and PCB, a resolution has been achieved. This breakthrough decision follows the BCCI’s acceptance of the PCB’s proposed hybrid model for the Asia Cup.
According to the hybrid model put forth by the PCB, the initial four matches of the group stage in the primary phase of the tournament will be held in Lahore, Pakistan. The subsequent phase, which includes matches involving India and the finals, will take place in🧸 Sri Lanka. This compromise allows both countries to host matches while effectively addressing the security concerns raised by Pakistan.
Previously, the PCB had issued a boycott threat against the Asia Cup and subsequently, the ODI World Cup in India if their hybrid model was not accepted. To allay these concerns, officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC), including Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice, visited Lahore and engaged 💖🦩in discussions with PCB officials to secure a guarantee that the Pakistan team would travel to India for the 2023 World Cup.
With the assurance provided, the BCCI made the decision to accept the PCB’s proposed hybrid model and designate Ahmedabad as the venue for the India-Pakistan World Cup match. This match holds immense significance as it marks the first encounter between the rival nations on Indian soil since 2016.
The selection of Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium as the venue for this high-intensity game stems from the anticipation of a large influx of international fans traveling to India for the event. According to the report, the majority of Pakistan’s World Cup matches will take place in Chennai and Hyderabad.
