In a significant blow to New Zealand’s campaign in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the team’s linchpin, Kane Williamson, will be absent for their second showdown against the Netherlands. Addressing reporters in the pre-match briefing, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead shed light on Williamson’s recovery progress, emphasizing the need for the player to regain confidence in his fielding abilities.

Stead remarked,

“Kane’s been progressing very well, I think fielding is still the element for him that he’s just got to get a little bit higher, and he gets a little bit more trust in his body.”

Providing a glimmer of hope for Williamson’s fans, Stead expressed confidence in the star batter’s return, indicating that the third game of the tournament could see him back in action.
