The PSL (Pakistan Super League) Governing Council is set to convene its first meeting under the new PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) management committee on September 25th, marking a pivotal moment in the league’s planning.

Due to the absence of s♌everal team owners who are currently abroad, the meeting will be conducted through a video conferencing platform. The foremost item on the agenda is the determination of dates for the upcoming edition of the PSL, a decision that remains pending. Additionally, a proposal to host the league in the UAE is under consideration if general elections are scheduled i♏n Pakistan early next year. However, aligning a suitable timeframe for the PSL poses a challenge, as multiple other T20 leagues are also scheduled around the same period next year.

Teams are eager to finalize the schedule promptly. It’s worth noting that the Emirates Cricket Board plans to organize its own league from January 19th to February 18th, potentially impacting the availability of UAE venues for the PSL.

This meeting holds significance as it marks the first official interaction between franchise owners and Zaka Ashraf, the head of the management committee. During this session, critical decisions regarding the league’s future will be discussed.

Notably, Zaka Ashraf and the existing franchise owners are aligned in their preference not to expand the number of teams until the league’s tenth edition.
