India, a two-time World Cup champion, is gearing up to host the ODI World Cup for the first time since their triumphant campaign on home soil led by MS Dhoni in 2011. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India is determined to secure the coveted title.

Dhawan's Struggles and Departure

Shikhar Dhawan’s presence in the Indian squad gradually diminished as Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma solidified themselves as a potent opening partnership, with Ishan Kishan providing capable backup. Dhawan’s last appearance for India dates back to December 2022 during the Bangladesh series. Despite his impressive track record in ICC events, Dhawan faced a dip in form recently, averaging 34.40 in ODIs with a strike rate of 74.21 in 2022.
