Tejnarayan Chanderpaul, son of former West Indies star batsman Shivnaryan Chanderpaul, scored his first career double-century against Zimbabwe on Monday. Yesterday, on the second day of the Bulawayo Test, he brought up his first career century, hitting 10 fours and 1 six in 286 balls. Despite losing to partner Craig Braithwaite today, he remained steadfast. At the head of 199 runs, Wellington turned Masakadza’s first century into a double century by hitting him for a six. He scored 205 runs from 465 balls with 16 fours and 3 sixes.

However, West Indies announced the innings immediately after Tejnarayaan scored a century. The tourists announced the innings by losing 6 wickets and scoring 447 runs based on his 467-ball 207 and Craig Braithwaite’s 182 runs. Tejanarayan, however, surpassed his father Chanderpaul to play the third Test of his career. Chanderpaul played 164 Tests for Windies from 1994 to 2015 and scored 11 thousand 867 runs. Two of the 30 centuries were double centuries. He scored an unbeaten 203 against South Africa in 2005 and an unbeaten 203 against Bangladesh at Mirpur in 2012, the highest personal collection of his career. But son Tejnarayan played an inning of 207 runs in the third Test of his career and surpassed his father in the highest individual innings.
