Glenn Maxwell made history in the ODI Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 by scoring a century in just 40 balls against the Netherlands. This is the fastest century in the tournament, breaking the previous record of 49 balls set by Aiden Markram. Maxwell hit eight sixes and nine fours in his innings, reaching fifty runs in 27 balls and then the century in just 13 more balls.

Maxwell played some extraordinary shots, including two impressive sixes against Bas De Leede in the 47th over. After his incredible innings, former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar praised Maxwell’s “reverse hit” as one of the greatest cricketing shots.

Australia won the match by 309 runs, and Maxwell mentioned that he had to calm himself down in the beginning and rebuild the innings. He adapted his approach based on the timing of wickets and the game’s circumstances. He focused on hitting the ball through the gaps and became more aggressive towards the end of his innings.

Maxwell attributed his success to his experience playing in India and wasn’t concerned about what people said about his ODI cricket performance, emphasizing that it didn’t matter to him.
