New Rule-5: There will be an immediate penalty for ‘slow over rate’ this season. 20 overs must be completed within the allotted 90 minutes. If a team fails to do so, a fielder must remain within the 30-yard circle for the rest of the time, until the end of the over.

Ten franchises will participate in this year’s event. After 2019, IPL is going to be played on a home-and-away basis for the first time. Like last season, the teams have been divided into two groups. Group A has Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants. On the other hand, Group B has Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
